Those who follow any Tom, Dick or Harry can’t be convinced when you quote them real scholars such as Ibn Bazz or Ibn Othaimeen. Therefore, they are a hopeless case and you would be wasting your time with them. There are different opinions on almost every issue in Islam. This doesn’t mean we should follow any of these opinions we like!

Is there any differences in opinion regarding celebrating birthdays? From my best of knowledge it’s haram. A brother celebrates birthday and I wanted to stop him from it. I sent him islam.qa’s link and he sent me a YouTube video. A da’ee said that celebrating birthday is permissible. Please clarify.
