After Asr salat a small group of people stood and said “neither four great scholars nor their Students wrote any book then how you know their opinions and why you follow blindly” Is it correct?

This is false and ignorant. All four Imams wrote books and so did their students.

Isn’t it truth that majority of the ulama of the past strictly used to follow one of the 4 madhab even some of them used to call them xyz hanafi or xyz hanbali so why we r not strictly following them?

This is not true as true scholars used to follow the Quran and Sunnah. This is what we are instructed to do by Allah and His Prophet, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam.
