In a Hadith the prophet peace be upon him said “follow the overwhelming majority”, but nowadays across the world the salafis are a minority. How to reconcile this sheikh? Does this Hadith show that we must follow what the majority of scholars are saying even if it goes against the salaf

ANSWER: The majority, as Ibn Masoud May Allah be pleased with him said, is whoever is upon the right path even if you were alone. This is why Allah described Ibraheem peace be upon him as “ummah” though he was alone.

Sheikh, my parents are strict hanafis and want evidence where Abu hanifa said to follow the sunnah rather than his viewpoint when they conflict.

ANSWER: Any Muslim giving precedence to people’s views over the prophet’s sunnah salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, such a person’s Islam is questionable! How can your parents claim to be Muslim when they refuse to follow the prophet’s commands and prefer to follow Abu Hanifa or even Abu Bakr and Omer’s opinions?

My question is that you said a layman must choose 1 madhab to follow and not choose from second. I follow hanafi madhab but in hanafi madhab they pray witr with 3 rakahs (2 tashahhud and 1 tasleem) but i pray it like others with 2 rakah tasleem and then 1 rakah tasleem. So can i do it or should i pray only in hanafi way.

ANSWER: You must follow the authentic sunnah way and not pray witr in hanafi manner as this is against the sunnah.

If a daee says that he loves and respects all 4 madhhabs. But in fiqh and usool al fiqh, does not follow any one of the four and do their own ijtihad. Is there any problem in this?

My Uncle tells me not to move my index finger during attahiyat because ghair muqallid people do that who don’t understand the hadeeths well. He also tells me don’t read hadeeths and Directly understand becoz it will cause confusion and tells to follow a mazhab than follow sunnat as I might go wrong since there are context behind it. Any Advice Sheik please?

ANSWER: Don’t listen to him as he doesn’t know anything about Islam as he is a blind follower of what his schools of thought tells him. Real muslims follow what Allah and the Prophet salla allahu alaihi wa sallam say.

My question is that there were already 4 schools of thought then why some saudi scholars introduced a new one SALAFISM and also it didnt decrease the difference of opinion but it only increased the difference of opinion and it didnt helped much, now there 5 schools instead of 4. Is Salafism a legit school of thought?

ANSWER: There was no competition between them to determine that.

As a layman I should follow a particular madhab but what if it says pray witr like maghrib, should I follow it?

ANSWER: If you know the authentic hadith about an issue, you must follow it even if it goes against the madhab.

Imam abu hanifa had students that were very big like Imam Bukhari and Muslim and all other imams of major madhabs. Then why is his madhab sometimes wrong if he is the teacher of other great imams like Shafii and others and imam bukhari and Muslim are not?

ANSWER: Where do you get your knowledge from? Imam abu Haneefa had nothing to do with Imam Bukhari or Muslim as they were not even born when he died! He died in 150 Hijrah while Imam shafi’ee was born on the that same year!

Shaikh in subcontinent mostly all people follow the Madhab of Imam Abu Hanifa(May Allah have mercy on his soul),but they stick to it and not look QURAN and sunnah,even it goes against it,and people hardly find any person that follow Quran and sunnah,what should a layman do here,he go with what his laocal aalim tell him or if he find something opposite,is layman allow to contradict?

ANSWER: One must not stick to a particular madhab when there is an established sunnah for it. Follow the Sunnah.
