My family like me to marry someone with ‘degree, career & educated family’. My family is wealthy bi’idhnillah but I am not like my family and I feel compatible with someone simple like a Muslim working in shop. my father is not practising Shia. If my family (Agnostic or Shia) disagrees or threatens, what path should I take? I do not want them to feel bitter with Islam

If your family is like you describe, their restriction does not have a value legally and you must seek for an imam to be your wali if there are no relatives from your father’s side that are practicing Sunni muslims.

this is further in query to my earlier question,can a divorced woman marry a muslim man without the consent of her father who is refusing as that man is already married,by making an imam her wali. I saw on islamicqa.info website query no.95405 in marriage section by Shaykh Muhammad Salih Al Munajjid that if father refuses for a non shariah reason she can make imam her wali n marry.

If your Wali (father) is unfit to be your wali, you should take your case to the Islamic court and complain to them and they will appoint the next one in line to be your wali such as your paternal grandfather or your paternal uncle or your bother.

Is it allowed in Islam to have a waliyu{my brother) represatative on my Nikah ceremony because he could not make it for some reasons.?

A marriage is not valid without the wali of the woman. If her proper Wali appoints someone trustworthy to represent him, this is permissible.

This is not possible! Your father must be your wali! If he is dead or there is a legitimate reason for him not to be your wali, then it must be your brother and then your paternal uncle. If there isn’t anyone suitable, the Muslim judge would be your wali!

A sister whom her husband died few years a go she got a proposal and she may accept it. she is asking you if she can have a breast surgery before she will remarry as she believe that it is nedded in order to please her husband.

If this is for beautification, this is not permissible. But if she is flat totally, this is a defect and can be fixed through surgery.

My proposals are coming but they have not seen me before. So should I cover my hair using hijab infront of them if boy father or boy himself come along with his family at our house to see me first time? You shouldn’t approach him as long as he is not intending to do it firmly! Get yourself out of this idea and don’t involve yourself in something you will regret later! If he goes and marries on his own, be patient and don’t object but don’t push him to do so!

Does a second wife have any mandated duties towards the first wife of her husband? Some friends of my husband are saying that as a second wife I have a duty to call the first one to say hello and pay respects because i “found” her in the marriage, and that i am mandated to know and have a relationship with her. Is this true by the deen?
