In the past I was not practicing much and i had taken expensive watches and gadgets. Can I distribute in my family and cousins as I have many cousin brothers or do I have to sell and distribute the money to poor? Please clarify?

If you took them by stealing them or from haram sources, you must dispose of it in means of charity by selling them!

What is the difference between Istighfar (seeking fogiveness) and Tawbah (repentance)? I thought that they are the same thing?

Itsighfar is done by asking Allah for forgiveness! It is only a Duaa and nothing else. Repentance on the other hand involves quitting, remorse, intending not to go back and to do it before your time is over.

Can you kindly answer for myself and some family/friends if it permissable to gather on Christmas day to eat together. The purpose of the gathering is friends and family feel holidays are the only time to see each other and spend quality time together. I personally don’t take part in this.

If they are Muslims and they gather only because they are all off from work and school and they don’t celebrate Christmas but only gather as a family or friends, this is permissible.

I hope this question can be answered by the Sheikh himself. I have the intention to repent from my old sins and have decided that I want to continue memorizing the Qur’an and getting closer to Allah. Can you give me some steps in worship and character that I can do to build myself up as a religious person after I repent? I don’t know where to start.

1.You have to start learning about your religion and about Allah’s Names and Attributes. 2.Be a good son to your parents 3.Pray in the masjed 5 times per day 4.Have good friends(practicing muslims) surrounding you 24/7 5.Attend lectures of scholars 6.Give sadaqa 7. Refrain from all major and minor sins.

There was a flood in Chennai, a state in India, a few days ago. And people were in trouble. Many organizations started relief work. They helped villagers with food, shelter and many things. They rescued people from flooded areas. After the flood, two Muslim organizations cleaned the whole city; homes, masjids, etc. And they added a temple and an idol within that area. Is this allowed?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to contribute in building or cleansing of such places of worship.

There is a video where the Dubai ruler and some other rulers are in the Prophet’s mosque and reciting Durood on him using “ya Rasul Allah”. Is this permissible?

Saying Ya Rasool Allah as part of the salutation is permissible, but addressing him directly as if one is talking to him is prohibited.

I live in Canada. My question: is it obligatory upon me to call the manufactures of the products I use to inquire whether Haram ingredients were used in their production? Products such as creams, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotions etc… not food. Or can I assume that they are pure and move on with my life? Please help me.

My friend is a Sunni Muslim and has studied alot about Islam. He says that after the death of prophet Muhammad , people got so obsessed with talking about sahih hadith that at one point Abu bakr said that now if anyone comes to me asking about hadith,I will chop his head off so that people would go back to Quran more. Is this true.

Do I need to say “Sallallahu alayhi wasallam” and “alayhi salam” when Prophet Muhammad’s (salallahu alayhi wasallam) and any other prophet’s (alayhi salam) name is mentioned in the Qur’an though it is not mentioned in the translation?

It is recommended but not mandatory.

We know that Allah doesn’t tell lies nor do zulm and other negative works which humans do, so many people say that ‘had Allah wanted or Willed to do these, Allah could have done these’, so is it the right belief or should we say Allah knows the best?

Allah has said: I have made Zulm forbidden for Me, therefore do not commit any Zulm between you. This means that Allah is able but he made it forbidden for Himself.
