QUESTION: My relatives have chosen a woman for my nikah. After hearing good things about her, I have proposed. (I have yet to see her face). In sha Allah, After Ramadan, I with my family will go to meet my supposed spouse for the interview. My question is that can I talk to her in private with the permission of her Wali?

ANSWER: No, this is not permissible! It is not permissible also for your father and brothers to look at her in such an interview! They are non mahram to her.

QUESTION: Sheikh is it bad if I get a proposal from a person of deen and Khuluq and reject because I have feelings for someone else? Should I just accept that proposal or should I not because it’s unfair to impose personal issues onto a new person who is good. I feel stuck.

ANSWER: Having feelings for someone who is not a potential suitor is illogical as thousands of women lost good proposals due to such mirage! A bird in hand is better than 10 on the tree. Go ahead with this good proposal that checks all boxes instead of depending on something that is not certain.

ANSWER: They have no right to stop you from marrying if you are financially independent and can take care of your wife and open up a home for her. Your brother’s marriage has nothing to do with you getting married. You can get married even if they are not ok with that.

QUESTION: I’m a Muslima from a Shia family and I practice sunnah (my family is against it) and I want to get married to this man who’s a practicing Muslim but his African. And their only reasoning for not agreeing with the marriage is that his black and think it will ruin their reputation. ANSWER: This is totally prohibited as he is non mahram to your wife and a total stranger to her.

QUESTION: I am 34 year old woman. My parents keep rejecting all proposals I get coz their expectations are too high. Recently my friend introduced a guy to my family but they rejected him too saying he has sisters and will have to give them share from the property they owe.
