There is no actual preference for it. I wear it in my right since almost 30 years.

This is not permissible as it is imitating the non Muslims and this is prohibited.

This is an issue of dispute whether the thigh is an Awrah or not. The most authentic opinion is that it is an Awrah and it must be covered at all times.

This is permissible as long as it is not imitating the disbelievers and there is not shaving part of the head and leaving part of it.
