QUESTION: I plan to fast 9 days of dhulhijjah (IA). My initial intention of fasting is to obtain reward, but I fear my intention has changed in my head & I am now fasting bec I want to lose weight. 1. will I still be rewarded for fasting regardless of intention. 2. if not, then what should I do.

ANSWER: Change your intention and make it primarily for the sake of Allah and losing weight is a byproduct of that.

QUESTION: A woman had intercourse with her husband while she was repaying her Ramadan missed fast. She forgot to tell her husband she was going to fast the night before and in the morning he approached her then she told him she was fasting but he went ahead anyways. Will she do kaffarra?

ANSWER: No, the kaffarah is not the same as it is only for intercourse during the day time of Ramadan. She must only keep that fast again. QUESTION: Can I disobey my mother and fast on Mondays, Thursdays, and the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the month? I’ve often fast, but due to long bus travels and extreme weather in India, my mother worries and only permits fasting on weekends. Will I still receive the same reward for obeying my mother and not fasting? Can I still enter from ar-Rayyan?

ANSWER: You are not obliged to obey your parents in leaving voluntary fasts when there is no hardship on you and fasting won’t hinder you from serving them properly.

QUESTION: I work and live in a place 350 km (7hrs journey )far from Home same country . Hometown and workplace ramadan started same day . I was in my workplace when it started. I was there till 29 iftar after that my hometown moon was spotted at that night i went home and celebrated eid . But at my workplace they completed 30 days. Do i have to make it up

ANSWER: Yes, you need to make up one day as you left your workplace at night and this meant that you are obliged to fast the following day as they did not see the crescent.

QUESTION: I came from India to Makkah on 1st April/22nd fast of Ramadan after my exams, and my total fasts are 29. Should I make one fast up before fasting for Shawwal or do my fasts end with the local people of Makkah?

ANSWER: As long as you have completed 29 fasts, you don’t have to keep one more fast if you did not skip any day in ramadan

QUESTION: If someone is making ghusl or wudu while fasting and they choke while rinsing their mouth and accidentally swallow some water because of it, does this break their fast?

QUESTION: Some of the brothers are struggling with addiction of masturbation during ramadan. QUESTION: If a person in a state of Janabah wants to fast next day. It is necessary to perform ghusl before fajr or he/she can fast and perform ghusl on day. Is their fast valid then?

ANSWER: Ghusl is not mandatory before fajr and has no impact on his fasting but praying fajr is mandatory hence they must make ghusl and pray fajr on time!

QUESTION: Is it permissible to skip fast as I’m travelling to my hometown and also I’m meeting my wife after 6 months, so we might be intimate and that could break the fast.

ANSWER: When going back to your hometown, you can skip fasting while you are on the road traveling. If you reach your hometown in the morning and you are not fasting, you can not be intimate with your wife who is fasting and must wait.
