Backbiting

Sheikh I wanted to ask a Many times we backbite and I know it a grave sin. Will I be forgiven If I ask forgiveness from Allah about backbiting? Or I have ask that person to forgive me? What if I can’t ask that Person, Maybe he is not here or It can cause problem or misinterpted if I confess to him. Will Allah forgive back biting?

If confessing it and asking for forgiveness would lead him to forgive you, this is a must But if you know or fear that doing so would cause more damage and harm, avoid it and repent with sincere remorse.

If someone discloses my sins to others unfairly, is it permissible for me to take revenge by disclosing their sins of the same sort?

sheikh, my question is that,I slander about my friend and say what she didn’t do because she also don’t like me,and I’m now In full regret,I have been sending her a message asking her to forgiveness me for whatever I have done to her perhaps I didn’t mention to her what exactly I did to her,in the sense she don’t like me she don’t even reply my messages what should I do please?

Let her cool down for few months and then try again.

Most of the people around me commit ghebbah in front of me. Sometimes I leave the conversation and sometimes I correct them but not in a direct way,you know: sayibg for example dont say this, or I do not agree with you,or why you sah this.. instead of saying directly :THATS GHEBBA!.Is it okay? Because I feel shyness to correct some people.

A person backbite against me to my friend, and this creates misunderstanding. The matter is not so serious, but i fear that this may cause bigger problem in future. So should i discuss this with my friends that the person is wrong? Or just be patient? It is to be mentioned that the person is telling lies about me to my friends.

You should stand up to yourself and defend your reputation by showing him that this person is a liar.

NO it doesnt. You have to seek forgiveness from Allah from the committed sin.

People often gossip about celebrities. Some of these celebrities do very bad things. I am wondering if the celebrities get the good deeds of those who backbite against them, even if the celebrities are doing immoral things.

Kafirs don’t take muslim’s good deeds. However the muslim is losing these deeds while backbiting a non muslim or talking about them for no legitimate reason as such gossiping is not appropriate for Muslims.

if a muslim backbites a muslim and the other muslim also backbite him by defending himself, who will get punished on the day jugement? Sometimes people make up lies about you and you respond by saying they are liars for example.

Both of them are sinful. One must not defend himself by backbiting others before verifying the truth or facing that individual. You can say the truth without backbiting him.
