sheikh, are we muslims supposed to do any type of celebrations, extra prayers on the day of shab e barat/mid shaban? Did prophet peace be upon him ever done celebrations on that day? Or celebrating on that day is bid’ah?

ANSWER: Nothing special must be done on this night or day as it’s not from the Sunnah, hence an innovation.

I’ve made an oath to Allah that I’ll not commit a specific sin.However I couldn’t control myself.I know the kufara for breaking an oath but since I’m a teenager,I can only fast for 3 days but not feed or cloth 10 people.But problem is, my parents don’t allow me to fast during anytime except Ramadan.Is it okay if I fast during Ramadan rather than normal days?Will Allah consider this as the kufara?

ANSWER: No, you cannot fast any other fasts in Ramadan. Don’t tell them you’re fasting and keep those 3 fasts of breaking the oath.

I wanna ask that,is it must for us to cut nails every Friday or after every 40th day.Like some people’s nail grow more even if it’s on weekly basis so will any of the above rule will apply similarly?Is thier any hadith in which punishment of not cutting nails is mentioned as many of them I know but not sure whether they’re true or not.

My brother is working in Maersk shipping lines as second officier. As we know shipping lines carry the bulk of the goods from place to place which sometimes includes Alcohol and pork as well. I want to convert US dollars to canadian. This will be in large amounts every month. My bank says says they will charge me 3.5 percent but can make the conversion instantly. Is the 3.5 percent riba? A third party (foreign exchange) gives market rates with very little fees but it takes 24 hours to transfer due to wire times. Which is worse? 3.5 percent or 24 hour delay?
