Someone once told me that if someone comes to claim a seat you are sitting on, it should be given to him. And if anyone offer a seat already seated on, it should not be taken. Sheikh is this true?

If a person was sitting in a seat and left it to go the toilet for example and came back, finding someone in his seat, he has the right to ask that individual to leave his seat as initially it is the first one’s seat.

As for standing and giving your seat to the elderly or the needy, this is permissible.
