It was reported that Ibn Taimiyah did hit those who were possessed and this
was done a lot of times. This was not done at the time of the Prophet salla
Allahu alaihi wa sallam to the best of my knowledge but it is a well known
practice with the Salaf such as Imam Ahmed Ibn Hanbal and others.

Is it true that Ibn Taymiah rahimahullah has beaten someone that was possessed by Shaitan?Was this a practice of the prophet Muhammad(saws) or of the Companions?
