It is Sunnah to shorten the prayers after you leave your hometown. It is permissible to combine Thuhr and Asr and also Maghrib and Isha. A person can shorten prayers until he goes back to him hometown as long as he is still considered to be travelling and not residing.

Is it right to combine all your prayers because you are about to travel or to shorten your dhuhr,asr and maghrib prayers from 4 to 2 raka’ah’s when you arrive at your destination?
