ANSWER:

It’s not permissible to have these mixed gatherings. You should have separate arrangement for ladies for eating as well as sitting. Tell your husband it’s not permissible at all to mix in this fashion especially between in laws as Prophet salla Allahu aliaihi wa sallam said it’s ‘Death’.

Im am a revert & wear niqab. When my husband invites his brother & cousin w/their wives to my apartment, they all congregate in the living room and eat together.
