ANSWER:

This is baseless, no problem to hug your mother sisters, or any of your mahram but in a decent way.

I read an article where a sheikh said we cannot hug female mahrams as it may provoke desire and we can kiss the head or nose instead. Is this prohibition of hugging for example the mother, aunts, sisters correct? May Allaah reward you with good.

Usually parents take severe measures to ensure their kids dont mix with the opposite gender in schools and colleges. (Which is understandable) But at the same time they themselves talk and interact with cousins and even distant relatives of the opposite sex in a very casual manner and sometimes with no boundaries. And then they say thay they are “family” so its okay. Isn’t this hypocrisy?
