ANSWER:

Yes, you’re rewarded for this. You must continue to try and maintain kinship with them and they’re sinful if they do not reciprocate or initiate.

I live abroad. So I call my relatives to uphold the ties of kinship only for the sake of Allah. But they do not receive my call. They don’t even reply to my messages where “assalamualaikum” is written. Am I getting rewarded for this? And are they sinful? If I am not being rewarded, I won’t do it anymore.
