ANSWER:

It’s not permissible at all for your step dad to be your wali!

If your father genuinely is not responding then go meet him personally and even after that if he refuses to be present for your wedding and is not willing to even deputise his brother or his father or your brother to act as your wali, then in this case go to your local authorised Islamic center or Muslim court and they will look into your case.

I have been messaging my dad (after my mom split up, after 20+) but he never replies to my messages he reads them never replies. I want to get married but how am i without my wali. I want my step dad to be my wali as my dad has never been around and he doesn’t care. I have been talking to everyone else from his side, his brothers, his sisters. what to do?

Is there a rule/permission in Islam where the parents can have their son/daughter get talaq done?
