Allah punishes in this life who He wills. Most likely that such people would be punish both in this life and in the hereafter but this is not a must. As for protesting, I believe that it is not advisable nor recommended as a lot of evil results from that.

Does Allah Az wa Jal punish in this world to those who insult our beloved Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, and Is it OK to participate in protest,or just woe to them?
