If there is a legitimate excuse for me to neglect going to the masjid (for example, it’s raining), is it a must to pray with my wife (or with someone else) in congregation (in my home)? Can’t I just pray alone?

If weather does not permit you to attend the masjid, you can pray at home and lead your family in prayer. Rain that is muddy and would cause clothes to become damp and wet is a legitimate excuse for not praying in the masjid.

I know during the khutba you shouldn’t speak, but when I hear the prophet’s name saw can I send blessings under my breath only that I can hear it? And would this constitute as talking and invalidate my khutba?

Asalaamu alaikum dear shaikh . My elderly uncle is asking : “what is the ruling on visiting al aqsa masjid even though it is under Jewish control ? Mubah, makruh, mustahab ?” He is just talking about visiting , in order to make salah and show solidarity with the Palestinian cause . Jzk.What should I advise him shaikh ?

Wa alaikum salaam This is an issue of dispute. I personally feel that it gives legitimacy to the occupier and one should not throw himself in harms way as nothing stops them from detaining any Muslim.

Assalamualikum. I would like to know the ruling with regard the permissibility or the non-permissibility of shopping/buying or selling at the time of the call of the adhaan for the Jumu’ah prayer, ya’ani before Jumah or after Jumah, is shopping forbidden before salat-ul-Jumah? JazakAllahu Khayran!

Wa alaikum salaam When the Imam enters the masjid and says Assamaunalaikum, it is prohibited to sell or buy until the prayer is over.

There s nothing that restricts talking while the athan. And Allah knows best

At my work place we have 30 mins for jummah prayers and it is hard for some to leave the building to go to a masajid for salah.is it permissable for one of the brothers to lead jummah by performing a khutbah at work in a room made up offf six / seven muslim brothers?.

I hear the Adhaan of several Masjids but the Masjid that I go gives Adhaan 2-3 minutes later to all the Masjids.I usually go before the Adhaan to the Masjid I attend so if I reach the Masjid before the Fajr Adhaan can I pray the Sunnah as I heard the other Masjid’s Adhaan? or I should wait for the Masjid which I attend to give Adhaan then proceed?
