Shaikh, At the University I study in (in the west) there is a Muslim prayer space where the Muslim brothers and sisters pray their Salah with jamaat however I’m unsure whether this is regarded as a masjid. What constitutes a masjid? If muslims pray in a particular space can that be regarded as a masjid? And hence one should pray tahiyatul masjid when he goes there.

shaykh, if a person in masjid, after the completion of the prayer, sat in one corner and recited quran, a guy whom he is selling his home, came greeted & talked to him whilst he was holding the closed mushaf in hand. suddenly the buyer started to speak to him about flat price after greeting, After speaking to the buyer , he realized what he does is wrong, he came to know about a hadith forbidding buying & selling in masjid.. has he done a major sin?

ANSWER: If they sell and buy in the masjid then this is sinful, but if they just talked about the property without mentioning selling or buying it, then this seems permissible.

We stay in a compound of 70 villas. There is a club house and in that one room is allotted as a masjid. 1.Is this masjid considered as a masjid for regular prayers? 2. As Ramadan is coming can my children sit for ithikaaf in that masjid?!

My husband is not allowing me to go to Taraweeh to Masjid. I really really want to go shaykhs. I used to go before marriage now I feel like I am totally disturbed as he is not allowing me. But he is a practicing muslim.Alhamdulillh. What to do in situations like these?

You have to obey him. Try to soften his heart and remind him of the order of the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam not to prevent women from going to Allah’s houses.

I don’t know much, just a regular muslim,but the graves of our blessed Prophet s.a.w. and the graves of his companions may ALLAH s.w.a. be pleased with them All,are they in a mosque,or did they build the mosque around the grave?I believe that I read that the Prophet s.a.w. said that you should not do as the jews,and make graves a place of worship ,If what I read was right,is this secret knowledge

They can marry if they had repented sincerely, separated and stopped having intercourse until she gets her menses.

I would like to know if we don’t get place inside the mosque for eid prayer and we pray outside of the mosque but on the ground in front of the toilet and boundery for women, is it obligatory to offer 2 rakah Greeting of the Masjid for us?

Eid prayer is not to be offered in the masjid. You should offer these two Rakah as the rows are connected and this area is now part of the masjid.

We know from a hadith that it is prohibited to buy and sell in the mosque. What about advertising paid islamic lessons in the mosque (I.e. flyers, posters, announcement etc.)

Is it permissable to organise and encourage brothers to stay behind for ishraaq prayers once a month or two months. With no fixed days or cycles. We would select a day, arrange some food and encourage brothers to attend fajr and stay behind.

Yes, this is permissible however, one shouldn’t talk during this period of waiting for the sunrise and should engage only in Thikr and Quran recitation.
