Me and a brother join in the Ruku with the Imam from the first rakha. After the salam the brother raised up and added one more rakah. He explained that as he could not recite sura Fateha, it is recommended to repeat that rakha?

If a person catches up while the Imam is in the Ruku position, he is ordered to join the Imam and his rak’ah is valid even though he did not recite the Fatiha.

This is not permissible,he must pray on time. If he wakes after the time, he has to pray immediately and not delay it.

How does one join dhuhr and asr together?

This is done by praying the thuhur first then Asr both at the time of thuhur or the time of asr.

I join dhur/asr/esha prayer at 3rd rakah with Imam, after Imam finish his prayer. the rest two rakah I continue with reciting only surah fatiha or fatiha with zammil surah.
