What are the rulings on nawafl prayers in general? I pray my regular thuhr on jumu’ah at home as I am a female. After which at the time of live telecast of the jumu’ah at Makkah I pray again following the imam on TV facing my qiblah as nafl. This is a ritual for me every Friday. Is it permissible?

Nafl prayers are voluntary prayers. If you do not pray them you are not sinful, but missing out on great benefits. Praying behind the imam on TV is not permissible.

My husband was on journey and he shortened his prayer. But my brother in-law insisted on performing with jama. He said it is good to pray in jama even if we are travelers. What is your advice on this?

Jum’ah is Friday. Jama is congregational prayer. The question on praying in congregation! The prayer in congregation for the traveler if he is reading near a masjid is a must.

In standing (after ruku)and sitting(b/w protrastions), i feel some bones, i am at ease, i can recite the adhkar properly, but i STILL FEEL SOME BONES and it takes so much time, my spinal cord is straight, so i just ignore, (even if i feel bones) and move on. Can you please say whether salah is valid and also can you advice me on this?

Your prayer is valid and you must ignore these feelings.

We know that in salah we are to straighten the rows and leave no spaces. Does it make a difference whether a child has reached the age of puberty for him to make a new row? In my masjid, we complete the rows, but the Imam orders the kids (12 under) to form a new row leaving a row in front of them empty and not completing the rows that have spaces in..

The child who has reached puberty should be a part of the row and does not have to form a new row. Even small children must join the rows as well.

Those who follow Imam Abu Hanifa they say that your Salah is not accepted until and unless you pray Sunnah prayer. How should a person answer them on this? Or what they say is true?

In our area we have madarasah where we use to teach quraan to children in that place we use to conduct islamic lecture for ladies at every saturday after maghrib, now we planned to keep jumu’ah salah for ladies in that madarasah where we will not conduct five times of salah, Is it permissible to conduct jumu’ah salah like this? (first two row gents will be there)

If the place is needed and there is no masjid, this is permissible.

Can one recite directly from the Qur’an when one is praying Salatul-Duha. I know the scholars have said it is okay to do so when praying Tahajjud.

If you are praying alone, this is OK, but it’s not recommended.

If I recite, for instance, Soortaul ‘Ala in my salaah, and I don’t know the meaning of any of its verses, will I be sinful? Should I recite only those soorahs I know the meanings of (in salaah)?
