My dad does not pray. Not even on fridays. From two years he goes to mosque only on eid.he watches almost everything on TV. He does not fast. He was working in Saudi about 25 years back. He did haj thr. Now he is around 57. He wants to go to haj with my mom. Should i pay? Is it worth him doing haj without even praying five times a day.i m his son.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rehmatAllah, You don’t know if he prays sometimes when you don’t see him or not! It is not to us to judge people over speculations! He may change himself after doing hajj this time. Pay for him if you can afford and try to advise him to make this a new start.

Wa alaikum salaam, I am assuming you’re male. This is permissible providing you are not annoying anyone in the room.

I have heard that if one smokes, drinks and or does drugs, their prayers and fast and ibadah will not be accepted until 40 days. How true is this? Can you please explain it in the light of a Saheeh hadeeth? JAZAK ALLAH KHAIR.

This is true but not for smoking. smoking is not intoxicating like the drugs or alcohol.

If some woman is recently married and has got gold above Nisab, when she should pay zakat on that gold ? Is it either after one year of her possession or in coming Ramadan(when she got married in shaban of same year)?

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, It is prohibited to take interest based loan from a bank. The gold and silver kept with the bank as mortgage is still zakatable.

Assalam o Alaikum, I constructed a house in partnership of two friends. It took about three years from purchase of land to completion. I faced a lot of financial hardship during this period and also borrowed money from people. Everything is settled now and we have distributed the profit etc. Is zakat payable on profit only or the capital also? It is only recently that the house is sold.

Wa alaikum assalaam The zakat is due on the capital invested and the profit.

I have an uncle who recently suffered a stroke and as such he is currently unemployed. We would like to give our zakat to him but without telling him that it is zakat because he would be very upset if he knew it was zakat and might refuse it. So could we give him our zakat without telling him that it is zakat?
