ANSWER: Daughter in law and mother in law are mahrams for a man for life. Even if divorce takes place or his son or wife dies, they’re still his mahrams for life.

QUESTION: I cover my hair in front of my father – in – law,As per my knowledge in islam I understand that father – in – law is mahram.Is it compulsory that I need to uncover my hair infront of him or its permissible to cover hair infront of him. ANSWER: Your father in law is your permanent mahram and there’s no need at all to cover your hair in front of him.

QUESTION: I am from pakistan. I live in a separate home. Solo family. My 3 brothers with their families lives together with my parents in a separate city. There is a free mixing all day in their home. They eat together and sit together.I had to go for meeting with my parents but bcz of no parda i got very disturbed. How to deal with this ?

ANSWER: No, this is not permissible as her brother in law is not her mahram and the prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam prohibited for a Muslim woman to travel without a male mahram of her own, even for hajj.

ANSWER: It’s not permissible at all for you to visit her as she’s not your mahram and this counts as free mixing which is forbidden.
