Other muslims and family members tell me that I should only be busy with my own worship and not inform others about what is haram and what is halal. What is your answer to this?

ANSWER: A muslim must give dawah to other people, but he must call others with wisdom and beautiful preaching and enjoin righteousness and virtue and prevent and prohibit evil and vice.

I have told my mum beforethat we should pray before midnight but she rejects it and gets angry. I wanted to tell her and my aunties that isha is 21:09 since they think it lasts till 12.00 am so I came into the living room and asked my mum if she prayed isha but I don’t know if they heard me as well.Also I told them to pray at 21:07. Am I sinful for telling them so late?

ANSWER: You should give dawah with wisdom and fair preaching. You must not order your elders or ask them like this. You should be diplomatic. Send her authentic videos or booklets about this topic instead of policing her.

Does all beneficial knowledge elevate one in status e.g knowledge of science, nutrition, nature etc or only Qur’an and sunnah?

ANSWER: This depends on the intention. If one intends to serve Muslims and benefit them, this will be rewarding for him.

sheikh hamza yusuf was my favorite scholar ..i used to watch every lecture and his videos but when i got to know about him that he is sufi ,i dont know wherever should i follow him or not ,what is your opinion about him?should we follow him? as well as these two shiekhs,shiekh faraz a. khan and shiekh faraz rabbani ,are they sunni or sufis? jazakallahkair

ANSWER: This depends on your ability, knowledge, the need of people and the means to do so.

Shiekh a preacher wanted to give a talk in the US titled “Muhammad in the bible”. But muslim organizers said that the title was provocative, so they changed it to “a prophet in the bible”. The preacher said that much of the Muslim Ummah had become dead wood and scared. Shouldn’t as Muslims, we should care about other people’s feelings and not provoke?

ANSWER: There is no provocation in such a title. However, if this was addressing the Muslims, it is not an appropriate topic at all as making a lecture on the seerah and description of the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam in the Quran and sunnah would have been more beneficial.

Sheikh is it permissible that a general person recite a verse of Quran and translate it from the book of hadith before many people? Or some designation required for this?

ANSWER: This is not permissible unless this person is knowledgable, knows both Arabic and the language he is translating it to and knows what he is talking about.

I am aware that we have to respect our parents & Allah says be humble never say uff.If parents & grandparents follow cultural tradition like kids should bend down & say Salam, going to graveyard & putting flowers on grave. I have noticed if I try to say that its not right thing to do they get upset saying now kids will teach us right and wrong. How to deal in such cases pls help.

ANSWER: You must advise them diplomatically with good manners, knowledge, and wisdom and never cross the line of respect. However, you must never compromise your religion or give in to their pressure.
