Al Bukhaari (1919) narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Bilaal used to give the adhaan at night. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:“Eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktoom gives the call to prayer because he does not give the call to prayer until dawn breaks.” 144 Narrated Anas: Zaid bin Thabit said, “We took the Suhur with the Prophet . Then he stood for the prayer.” I asked, “What was the interval between the Suhur and the Adhan?” He replied, “The interval was sufficient to recite fifty verses of the Quran.” Please advise regarding the above two hadith – The first one state that we can eat and drink till break of dawn/adhan but the second hadith said that thare is a gap between suhur ending and Adhan (fifty verses -which is 4 to 6 minuted)Should we stop eating around 5 minutes before Adhan?

No you shouldn’t. The hadeeth illustrates how long the suhoor would take and not the interval between “finishing” the suhoor.

Regarding laitul qadr: i read fatawa on islamqa about it being in different times zones, e.g australia being ahead of makkah etc. this i understand because its still the same night just different time zone.however, the below is where i’m confused:regarding those scholars who say month should start and end according to local sighting e.g. that why have india/pakistan doing ramadan and eid 1-2 days after makkah. uk is divided on what opinion to follow.how do those scholars reconcile this with lait ul qadr- since that is one night, so do those people seeking,lailatul qadr according to makkah’s odd night or 10 nights or their own? if the whole world is following same day fasting, the above confusion is not there.so e.g. lets say its night x in makkah which is an odd night (most likely), but then you have (as explained above), countries doing ramadan different days- so then there laitul qadr night would be on an different night i.e. lets say its 27th night in makkah for others its their 26th night as they started ramadan one day later.i have another example: lets say its eid in makkah, but other countries are still on their last night ramadan, now according to makkah lailtul qadr is over…

Dear Shaikh, you rightly said we are told to break our fast when we see the sunset but nowadays in cities with large large buildings it is very difficult to see the sunset? Now in this condition can we follow the Salah timetable by increasing 2-5 minutes as precaution to break our fast?

You shouldn’t add these 2-5 minutes. You should break your fast when you believe that the sun has set whether you see it or not. I would break my fast in accordance to the time table.

Both are authentic. The second hadeeth states that it is most likely in the last 7 nights but doesn’t limit it to these nights as it can be in the other three as well.
