He has to hear them.

Does the wali have to hear the daughter and the brother talking or is it fine if the wali is in the same room. Does the ruling come in phone calls as well. does the wali have hear what the two are talking or just give permission and be present.

My husband and I are practicing Muslims as we should be. Alhamdulillah. My husband grows beard long. But when his acquaintances call him “Mutawwa” seeing his looks, he feels he isn’t of that high level practicing Muslim and so as not be (Riya) showing off Muslim, He trims off his beard making it very short. I hate it,we argue over this matter. Pls advice him Shaykh.
