My family is celebrating my brother’s birthday at our home who just turned one. I won’t be a part of the celebrations and I have tried to stop my family from doing this too but they say that my arguments are baseless and I am being too extreme. Now, if the celebrations are happening at my home, how must I avoid them when I can’t go anywhere else? Also, if they offer me the food, should I eat it??

ANSWER: Both of you are right.  It’s sunnah to pray again (with the intention of voluntary prayer) if he already prayed and congregation is going on because people might think wrong about him.  For women it’s not obligatory to pray in Masjid in congregation so what you did was OK for you.

ANSWER: Witr is not mandatory.  Your isha is not effected by this.  It is a highly recommended Sunnah. The Prophet salla Allahu Alaihi wa sallam used to never miss witr and the 2 rakahs Sunnah of fajr even while he was traveling, but this is not mandatory.

In our village, there is a custom among people before building a new house. Before the foundation of the house is built, four people will stand in four corners of the land where the house is supposed to be built and they will give adhan with the belief that it will provide protection to the people of the household.
