ANSWER: Both of you are right.  It’s sunnah to pray again (with the intention of voluntary prayer) if he already prayed and congregation is going on because people might think wrong about him.  For women it’s not obligatory to pray in Masjid in congregation so what you did was OK for you.

ANSWER: Witr is not mandatory.  Your isha is not effected by this.  It is a highly recommended Sunnah. The Prophet salla Allahu Alaihi wa sallam used to never miss witr and the 2 rakahs Sunnah of fajr even while he was traveling, but this is not mandatory.
