ANSWER:

If he did it for the sake of Allah, he will be rewarded but not as much as the person who is doing it while anticipating the reward.

Will someone avail the reward mentioned for a sunnah act, if he doesn’t know/remember its virtue mentioned in ahadith and only does it as a sunnah.
