This is for us to work out harder. If a teacher says to his student: “I am going to ask you in the examination from this 100 questions” you will put more effort to cope with these questions and to know their answers, but if he gives you1 question and you answer that questions, what do you think your knowledge would be? It would be very minimum, but if you prepare for 100 questions, your knowledge will be way beyond comprehension. Is it the same with Laylatul Qadr. If we know the exact night, the exact time, I would not care about fasting Ramadan, I would not care about praying Taraweeh, night prayer in the whole of Ramadan, I would just wait “listen is in the 27 of Ramadan, on the 27 I am free to do all the prayers, all the dua, and after that hit the sack, it’s over.” This is wrong; we do not have this way of dealing with Allah. We try to do our best to get closer to Allah and that’s why it is moving from place to place.

Why didn’t Allah specify a date for Laylatul Qadr?
