These were companions of the Prophet salla Allahu alaih wa sallam and they might have done what they thought was best at that time.

Why did Hussien (ra) rebeled against Yazid? Salafis say that we should not rebel against our leaders but then why Hussien ,Ibn Zubair etc rebeled and fought against the Ummayids? There was still Sharia law under ummayids unlike todays muslim nations.
