ANSWER:

The Duaa between the athan and Iqamah requires this. But if you are referring to the thikr after repeating with the Mo’athin, there is nothing to be said before it.

 

When I want to make a general du’aa outside of the prayer, I start with “Alhamdulillah” and then send blessings to our Prophet(pbuh). But if I’m going to make specific du’aas like the one we make after repeating after muezzin, do I have to exalt Allah azza wa jal, or send blessings to Prophet(pbuh)?

We know that, in Islam doing anything without intention it doesnt count. And duas are done with intentions. So if a non arabic speaker do read duas in arabic without knowing their actual meaning. How will be they counted as dua when they dont know what they are saying.
