ANSWER:

You should send salutations upon Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam and also make Dua until the imam gives salam instead of sitting idle.

When I join a congregational prayer late and the imaam is on his final tashahud but I am not,I usually read only the attahiyat until the imam says the tasleem so that I can stand and finish the rest of my prayer. Am I correct in what I’m doing? What is the most correct procedure?
