ANSWER:

This is an innovation and it can mount to shirk.

When a marriage is fixed people from boys side come to the girls house wherein the mother in law wears garland to the girl, serve her sweet and she takes money in her hand and circles it over girls head to ward off evil eye and this money is given to poor, is this Shirk? And how can we stop people from doing this when they are elder to us and can this money really be given to poor?
