She must not leave her house unless for necessity and emergencies such as visiting the doctor. She must not wear anything that beautifies her or considered to be beautifying herself. This means she must wear household clothes and not beautiful dresses that are usually used when going out. She must not wear perfumes or make up and all of this for 4 months and 10 days.
“And those of you who die and leave wives behind them, they (the wives) shall wait (as regards their marriage) for four months and ten days, then when they have fulfilled their term”
