It is totally prohibited to spy and it’s a major sin in Islam. 

You had no right whatsoever in checking his phone!

Sheikh, can we check the mobile phone of my brother, sister or of my son to see if they are in a haraam relationship or watching haram stuffs like porn or something. Bcoz previously I have found porn video in my brothers phone
