Zakat can only be given in cash to the poor and needy. If he fits the description, you can give him from the zakat.

as I am getting older i need to learn how to pay zakat. I know how it works for gold/silver but what about money in bank? How does that work? On the day it’s due, do I have to calculate all my savings, or do I have to calculate how much I will earn that year and leave aside what I owe for the due date of zakat? I’m really confused about this matter

Dear Sheikh, I have a question about zakah:I have 200 grams gold and I am paying zakat from it.My friend says subtract nasab amount (96 grams) from your gold then pay zakah of it.Meaning, I should pay zakat from 104 grams (i.e. 2.6 grams).I hope you understand.
