If your son is mentally challenged and he has the brain of a child, he is not obliged to fast like adults but you may encourage him without forcing him!

Please let me know if we are doing this good. Our son of 13 with intellectual disability is now fasting for elhemdulilah days. It starts to get really difficult for him but we tell him not to eat. Can we do this with him. He is not like another normal thinking kid.

masjids in my city, Maghrib is scheduled for 5.34pm. Around 5.35pm I thought heard adzan from afar, but not 100% sure. Probably from a distant masjid. There are 3-4 masjids nearby, but even until 5.47pm there is no sound from them. I checked many clocks and schedules. So I just broke my fast. Is it justified, what I did? There is a fatwa which says in Northern Europe when the fasts are extremely long you can base your fasting on Mecca so your fast will never be longer than 12 – 16 hours. It is attributed to Mohammad Abduh and Tantawi and Ali Gomaa. I feel that this opinin is wrong ? Does it hold any weight at all ?
