ANSWER:

Both are correct.

What is not permissible is to pray witr like maghrib by sitting in the tashahhud after two rakahs and to get up and pray a third rakah like Maghrib.

Please kindly explain what is the right way to pray witr. In a masjid I went to, it was two units first, a tasleem and then we got up for the one unit. In another masjid, the imam just prayed the three continuously without Tashahud In between. Which is the correct way of praying it
