This is absolutely forbidden to be in contact with the opposite gender before marriage. You can’t get engaged to him without the knowledge of your parents.

My question is, there is this guy he said he wants to get engaged with me, our parents are not told yet, is it okay if we get engaged then later we come and tell our parents? as you know there is alot of fitnah in this current century and is it okay for me to talk to him as in chat with him casually?
