My paternal uncle was leaving for a tour so I prayed my 10 raka’h of zuhur, took a break to meet him then prayed 2 raka’h afterwards. Is it appropriate to do ? I mean praying salah with breaks my mom says Shia pray like this , it should not be done , Pray complete SALAH at once.

No problem in this whatsoever as these are all separate prayers and one unit ends as soon as you give salam.
