ANSWER:

No problem in this as long as there’s nothing haram involved, like exchanging rings, music, free mixing between non mahrams etc. You and this man are still strangers and non mahram until you get the marriage contract done. 

My parents have seen me proposal so from boys side they wanted to do an engagement funtion.so having engagement is halal or haram? If we do an engagement funtion will i earn the curse of Allah?

Sheikh,yesterday I asked my mom how to know a girl before marriage(i.e the way she talks or responds, her attitude etc.)she told me that after engagement we go out together,talk and she called it courtship, she said if the girl finds something wrong in the boy or the boy finds something wrong in the girl, the wedding can be cancelled before it is performed.
