ANSWER:

This is minor shirk.

My grandma used to do this. Take onion peels, chilli , hair of a broomstick etc and wrap them in paper and take it in front of me and wave it and then burn the paper and the stuff inside it. This was done to remove evil eye and was checked by what the smell of the object burned indicated. Is this sihr which is apostasy? Do other ppl who believed this also fall into apostasy?

I read in school. In our Bengali book there are stories and poems which contain shirk beliefs. We have to read and study them to get marks in the exam. Will I become a polytheist (Mushrik) if I read and write them in exam if I don’t believe in those this things?
