ANSWER:

If you had insured it because it is mandatory upon you by law, you can benefit from what the insurance company pays you.

But if the mandatory insurance is only limited to 3rd party damages and not whole coverage, you shouldn’t benefit from that except for the amount of the premium payments you had paid the insurance company since the start. The rest must be give in charity.
