He is advised to always hide these tattoos and if he can afford to remove it without harming himself medically, he is advised to do so.

My brother was not a practicing Muslim, he did some tatoos on his body also in his hands. Nowadays Alhamdillullah he is practicing İslam seriously he prays five times with jamaa in the masjid and all other things. He is so worry of his tatoos as he take wudu having them on he wants to remove them but its too expensive
