You must not take such an oath.

My brother has a few psychological problems.can i promise allah that i will avoid certain food(not fasting) for allah to cure him?.one person suggested that i can do like this.is this beneficial? If yes, what food should i avoid and for how long?

Few years later i sweared and made a promise to Allah that i won’t eat certain things for the rest of my life if my mother is cured from the illness..She is alright now Alhamdulillah n now m craving for those foods..I was asking whether i can eat those foods again?..What if i pray istikahara?..
