I’ve read that books that contain romance and other bad behaviour is haram, but now most novels contain elements of romance or magic, so on, does that mean I can’t read, or have to only read non fiction. Also I don’t watch movies due to the haram but I find it hard and in this age everyone bonds over movies and such even when I make pious friends,I feel surrounded by the haram.

A muslim occupies his time with what pleases Allah and benefits him in this life and in the hereafter. Reading books about magic is prohibited. Reading novels about romance, this is usually filled with things that would ignite your desire and would brainwash you to want to be like the novel you had just read!
