Once a man came to the Prophet sallahu alaihi wa sallam and asked him for his shirt and the Prophet being extremely kind and generous, took it off and gave it to him. Then, when it was time for salah and he had to lead the prayers, he found that he did not have another shirt to wear so he said,
“Even good – do in moderation”

I have never heard such a hadeeth before. The first part is authentic and the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam gave the man his shirt after he went home and changed as he didn’t take it off in front of the people.
