It is permissible to fast in Mina if there is no hardship because intending to make things difficult is forbidden and Allah has given the excuse and the permission for travelers not to fast Ramadan which is mandatory.

But if there were no difficulties at all, it is permissible to fast, but not to fast Arafah whilst in Hajj, as our Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam didn’t fast it.

Is it permissible to fast whilst on my hajj pilgrimage, during the stay in mina, arafat etc? I’d like to fast from 1st-9th of Dhul Hijjah and I understand that this will make my hajj difficult, but wouldn’t there be more reward? I have read that it is a sunnah to fast on the day of Arafah, but is this applicable to the hujjaj?
