If the Duaa is general and it is not prescribed to is, it is part of the sunnah to offer salutation to the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam. Otherwise, it will be blocked.

In Salah, whether in sujood or elsewhere, one should ask Allah straight ahead!

Is it compulsory to recite durood in dua or is it optional? I read somewhere that older Muslim nations (followers of previous Prophets) were not allowed to supplicate directly to Allah, rather they had to tell their Prophets their supplication and the Prophets would make dua for them. Is it true?
